If you have ever just been around a child for a short period of time, you know kids are like sponges. They soak up everything you do and say. They learn so much from their parent or other adult figure.
But parents learn just as much (if not more) from a child.
Today I want to share my favorite quotes about the lessons we learn as parents.
> “I don’t know what’s more exhausting about parenting: the getting up early, or acting like you know what you’re doing.” ― Jim Gaffigan
> “We never know the love of a parent till we become parents ourselves.” — Henry Ward Beecher
> “Becoming a father, I think it inevitably changes your perspective of life. I don’t get nearly enough sleep. And the simplest things in life are completely satisfying. I find you don’t have to do as much, like you don’t go on as many outings.” — Hugh Jackman
> “Having children is like having a bowling alley installed in your brain.” — Martin Mull
> “Parenthood always comes as a shock. Postpartum blues? Postpartum panic is more like it. We set out to have a baby; what we get is a total take-over of our lives.” — Polly Berrien Berends
> “We go into parenting, and we discover that we don’t have the answers. We are at a loss.” — Julia Cameron
> “There’s this constant guilt that comes with parenting. You always feel like you’re never enough. If you’re confident in your parenting, you probably suck at it.” — Nia Vardalos
> “Parenting now is a two-way relationship where you learn from each other.” — Juhi Chawla
> “Parenting is one of the best management training programs there is.” — Irene Rosenfeld
> “Parenting is no sport for perfectionists.” — Andrew Solomon
> “No matter how much time you spend reading books or following your intuition, you’re gonna screw it up. Fifty times. You can’t do parenting right.” — Alan Arkin
> “Parenting three children at the same time has helped me grow as a filmmaker. It taught me to be more empathetic and understand what people want from me.” — Farah Khan
> “No matter how calmly you try to referee, parenting will eventually produce bizarre behavior, and I’m not talking about the kids. Their behavior is
always normal.” — Bill Cosby
Being a parent is great.
It’s hard. And It’s about love and mistakes… It’s many things, but you are not alone. Every mother or father is in the same boat. And we all start out clueless and learn as we go. We learn that parenting means something different with each child. Parenting is just another path on your life journey.
